Fussing Over American Hustle

Finally went to Williamsburg Cinemas (where I had heard we were going to be completely frisked and searched, which didn't happen on this particular occasion), to catch the Oscar-nominated flick.

The writer in me obsessed over the dialogue, the plot and the way David O' Russell brought us right into the visceral space he creates with his camera technique. There are two scenes that make you feel like you're actually drunk, and dizzy and sweaty and shouting. But the style and image geek in my was floored by the spot-on costuming, hair and makeup. Both had me thinking about how to translate the screen into some new pieces for the warmer months to come.

Some of my favorites!

A Sweeping updo I replicted (somewhat shoddily) as soon as I got home from dinner at Snacky's.

Go see this movie! It's a little long, but J. Law is as hilarious as ever, the hair makeup and costume design will inspire you so you've perfected your crazy curl techniques and disco-inspired style before March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb.
